Bookkeeper Job Description

Tasks:

  • Prepare and process payroll for clients.
  • Perform bookkeeping tasks, including account reconciliation and preparation of financial statements.
  • Prepare and file required reports, such as State Sales Tax and Workers’ Compensation Reconciliation.
  • Review, process, and compile accounting transactions and documents for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
  • Track receivables and issue late fees, increases, and notices as needed.
  • Coordinate with subsidy programs and track payment receipts, increases, and required notices/documents.
  • Deposit and record cash, manual, credit card, e-check/ACH payments.
  • Maintain accurate accounting records and organize all filing documents.
  • Monitor company and property expenses for budget adherence.
  • Enter accounts payable data with attached invoices, manage purchase orders, and track payments/receipts.
  • Perform monthly account reconciliations.
  • Conduct weekly quality control checks on payables and receivables.
  • Provide analytical support to the team for financial decisions.
  • Review vendor, utility, and property bills for accuracy and proper documentation.
  • Coordinate with the CPA for annual tax reporting, offering analytical support as required.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a bookkeeper or in a related field.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Expertise in accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and e-commerce accounting.
  • Ability to develop revenue models and create financial forecasts.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks, Microsoft Excel/Spreadsheets, and GSuite tools.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
